Won't turn off with accelerator pedal, but will with key
I have an ST 480. When I let up off the gas, it keeps running very very slowly. It will usually die in a bit. The cable to the carburetor from the governor generally seems loose enough. I tried moving the governor spring to the other notch to make it tighter. Did not really work. It will turn off immediately when I turn the ignition key off.
Is this an accelerator micro switch problem? It seems like the problem is that it is still getting gas..but is there supposed to be a kill engine switch from the micro? But I thought the micro only controlled the solenoid. The solenoid is off when the accelerator is off. Help! |

The microswitch is connected in series with the key switch. They both have to make contact to run. It sounds like yours is stuck.
