I do recommend adjusting tnem, then turn the engine over several times, check the gap, turn the engine over several times and check the gap again.
I adjusted the gap. It was at .014 on both valves so I adjusted them back to .004. The cart is still acting the same. I am able to drive it for about 1 minute or so before it starts acting up. Then I have to barely push the gas to get it to run and most of the time have to let it sit for a few seconds before it will take off again. If I push the pedal to the floor it shuts off until I let off the gas and barely push it again. When I took apart the carb I did not take the needle out of the float. Any chance the carb is out of adjustment?

Only advice I can give you is check compression again with a different gauge to verify its low if it is a rebuild is probably next in line unless someone chimes in with something we have missed

I know this is an old thread, but I never posted how I resolved the issue. It turns out that my fuel pump was going bad. It would pump gas but not very good. I rebuilt the fuel pump and it solved the problem.
