Default G1 fuel filter gas level

Having fuel issues with my Yamaha G1, have noticed that the level in the fuel filter varies, at times it is completely full, other times a third full and sometimes bone dry. Is this normal?

I would say that there should always be some amount of fuel in the filter. Sometimes it might appear full, sometimes might be a little air in there. But never should it be bone dry.

That's normal. I cant count how many fuel pumps have been bough because the owner says there is no fuel in the filter. Its how the system works, the fuel filter can run empty, but then refill.

I don't think a "bone dry" fuel filter is normal at all. There should always be some fuel in it or the pump would pull air into the lines.
