Default Loss of power 2005 ezgo

New carb, pump, filters, timing. When my pop got it, it would scoot about nicely but now bogs down on Hills badly. I think it's the belt. My understanding is that there should not be a lot, if any, slack in the belt. His depresses several inches without much force.

Any thoughts before he takes it in and gets taken for a new motor?

Not an expert but the belt should have some play in it and be loose enough that you could work it off the back axle. I would check to make sure the clutch is fully engaging. If you have good compression then its mostly a worn clutch.

One way to check the clutches is to SECURELY jack up the cart (and I mean securely, You don't want it falling down and running away on You) then remove the seat and run it with your hand on the gas pedal, as the RPM's increase the front clutch should close, making the belt ride higher and at the same time the rear should open so the belt rides lower in the sheaves ...

Also, measure the width of the belt, if it's much less than 1 and 3/16ths of an inch wide, it's likely wearing or worn out and will rob You of power. If You *do* replace the belt though, go with OEM # 22337-G1 instead of the belt that it has now, that part number is about 3/4" shorter than the stock belt and will substantially increase your power to the ground (trust Me on this one, there's actually a sticky in the "Gas Tech" section about running shorter belts)

Looking for that sticky but no luck. Any idea what belt to use on a 2005 club car ds? Going to suggest to my dad to try replacing that belt.
