Default decent hitch.

Been looking in old posts for a heavy duty rear hitch for a ds. Realized how flimsy the stock one is especially with the body off. Club Car really dropped the ball there, building what appears to be a really stout frame and tying the tails together with a single angle only welded on one face. Been looking for ideas and while the grizzly rear bumper and hitch assembly would work well, I think I'll probably have to fab my own. I'm thinking on building it like trailer hitches made for pickups while at the same time, keep the weight down. Anyone done it? Pics?

When I made my flip seat I took off the stock bumper and replaced it with a 3x3 angle. Might be a good place to start.

Thanks. Thought of that but those bumper tabs don't look real substantial either. Not like the frame rails they are welded to. Something to consider though.

Here is what I came up with. Old frame parts from a silo unloader gave me the tubing and scraps made the rest. Would have been cool out of aluminum but I don't have a spool gun yet or the metal either as aluminum is rare on a farm. Tried to keep it light while strong, and the whole thing weighs just under 20 lbs. Splash a little paint on it tomorrow and done. Now I can install the controller [no more welding] and wiring. Whoo hoo.

Looks stout. Reminds me of the one I made for my Bronco many years ago. The receiver lasted longer than the truck.
