Re: Workhorse help
I'm wondering if whomever did the top end din't tighten the valve retainer(s) and You need to check the valves as they have crept out of adjustment - they should be at .004. If they are set correctly, then it could be any one of several fuel delivery issues, from a dirty carb to oil in the pulse tube not allowing the fuel pump to work correctly. Check the valves (see the EZGO Gas Tech section for instructions) and if that's not it, then we can go from there

Re: Workhorse help
OK, thats good that the valves are OK, now let's look at fuel delivery. First, pull the fuel line from the carburetor and press the gas pedal (be careful as if the pump is good it will shoot a good pulse of fuel out of the hose) - if the fuel is coming out in a good pulse then likely the carb has a plugged jetand needs a good disassembly / cleaning. Best if that's the case to head to the "EZGO gas tech" section and download the service manual for your cart (it's in there) and it will show you an exploded view of your carb and where the jets are located.

Re: Workhorse help
You know, a lot of guys around here will freak out about the $20 Chinese aftermarket carbs on Ebay if You talk about them, LOL but I have used quite a few of them over the years and never had a bad one so I would say "Go for It" - just save your original and take your time cleaning it after You get the cart rolling again, that way You always have a spare ready to go !!!
(You *did* spray gas all over the place just to make sure the pump was working, right, LOL?!?) |

Hit or miss on those carbs. I've had plenty come back with stuck open floats.
