YDR/G29 Real Axle Fluid Change
Does anyone have any tricks for completing this without removal of rear seat kit or is that the only way?

Re: YDR/G29 Real Axle Fluid Change
If your talking about a "Team" transaxle with the brakes internally, You'll need some kind of "pump and hose" off the gear lube bottle. Don't forget about the "friction modifier".

Re: YDR/G29 Real Axle Fluid Change
I jacked mine up and did it from the bottom, there’s a drain and fill hole.
I went back with Mobil 1 synthetic which was recommended by don plowman when I did his performance upgrade. Mobil 1 doesn’t need a friction modifier for the brakes. |

Excellent! Thank you. I have one question though, I know Don recommends the mobil 1 synthetic, but will Yamalube Gear Oil work? Does it have the friction modifier?

It most definitely needs the friction modifier.

Take really good care of those rear ends and try to use the brakes as little as possible.

Re: YDR/G29 Real Axle Fluid Change
Yeah I’ve heard the brakes suck to replace or aren’t cheap...
either way I’m sure one day I’ll have to do mine. Good thing is that when you let off the gas, it has enough engine braking torque to slow you down pretty quick. So you use less brake |

Minimum of $400 if you just replace the friction plates.
