Default Pull drive clutch w/o tool?

I bought the removal tool 9 years ago, and it was still a huge chore to pull the clutch. I used an impact wrench and fought it for days before out of desperation I tapped behind it with a 2x4 and it popped off.

I bought a new clutch this week and have 2 days to get it installed. No surprise, the tool is nowhere to be found. (I found some other interesting crap in my garage though, so it wasn't a total waste)

I want to preserve the existing clutch. I don't have time to have a tool shipped.

Aside from taking it, cough, to a shop (which I'll do if I have to) what are my options?

I've never tried it but pack the bolt hole full of grease. The less air the better. Then insert a bolt of the right size and tighten. You may have to take the bolt out to add grease if too much air is in there. The theory is that pressure will build with the bolt squeezing the grease and it'll pop the clutch off. It may help to hit the bolt with a hammer to send a pressure wave to help pop it off.

Like I said, I've never tried it so I can't say if it actually works. I've just heard about it.

I've done it. Works like a charm. My clutch was 22 years old and never removed before I tried it.

He's talking about the driven clutch not the drive clutch it won't work on the DRIVEN clutch you can try taking the bolt out and soaking it with pb blaster and see if you can get it to slide off or make your own tool

Lol oops just realized I wasn't on the yamaha page they require a puller for secondary...... But yes since you're referring to drive clutch if you have the right size and thread pitch that will thread into the clutch (not the bolt you pull out that holds the clutch on) you can pack it with grease but I prefer to use a rod slightly smaller than the bolt that holds the clutch on and press against the rod this method is less messy

I tried using the actual clutch bolt. I get some decent pressure right until the threads are close enough to bite, and then the grease escapes.

Seems like I should use something slightly larger if possible?

Yes! The clutch bolt slides past the actual clutch threads and threads into the crank you need the bolt that threads into the clutch!
