Default Hesitation when pedal is pressed

2002 Yamaha G16: Alot of times when I press the gas pedal on my cart makes a humming noise for a cpl seconds before it takes off. It is getting worse and more frequent. When it does get started it runs perfect. Any ideas? Thanks

Can you tell where the humming is coming from? sounds like it's probably brushes in the starter/generator, may be the solenoid though or a bad ground causing the solenoid to chatter/buzz.

Have someone help you start the machine and check all the heavy battery cable bolts - clamps and the cable itself for hot spots. The studs on the solenoid - starter/generator check for heat. Also make sure you have a good ground strap between the battery and the engine.

Also, check to be sure skinny belt is tight enough. Be sure that the starter pulley isn't just spinning for that first second before the engine cranks.

Will do those things. Thanks. I put a new starter/generator on it back in the spring.

The starter/generator starts running. That is the noise it makes but it takes a long time alot to get the motor going. The generator sounds weak when it does the problem.
