Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
Looks like the splines on the trans are fine, just the clutch is stripped out. unless i'm missing something, a new clutch and you should be up and going.
I'd try jacking the rear wheels off the ground and spin the shaft by hand to make sure there's nothing internal to the trans grinding or binding though. |

Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
No I am pretty sure it is just the clutch that is striped still can't seem to find a clutch yet. The Toro dealer here can't get it.
So my next question is there an aftermarket one with 18 splines and between 3/4 and 7/8 inch spline clutch out there. Maybe 19mm or 20mm Last edited by kenhouser; 01-15-2019 at 01:00 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
https://www.toro.com/getpub/86440
Driven clutch is 119-6011 This website has a different part number, but it says it fits your model. That's not entirely uncommon, if they know a part has shown a high failure rate (which both of yours are identical, so good possibility here) then they will supersede with a different part number. pricey, but that's what happens with Toro, Snapper, Deere, or other big brands like that with "dealer only" support and no aftermarket alternatives. Parts are always available, which is why people love those brands. but you have to pay for them. https://www.mowpart.com/119-7990-tor...ly-driven.html |

Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
Thanks CP, dang that is pricey.
has anyone ever pressed the center out of a driven clutch. i wonder if i could find a splined coupler that would match the splines on the trans axle. something like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/7-8-13-TOOT....c100752.m1982 Maybe bore out the center and press new splines in. Are Golf cart trans axles splined or they have a key way. |

Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
I would think like pressing the bore out of a cylinder, it may be possible, just not necessarily a "DIY" type thing.
Maybe put it on, make it straight and weld the sucker in place lol I don't know that there is much option, short of just replacing it with a new one. Not much used on ebay either. Sucks that a clutch is as much as you paid for both of the machines, may be able to scour the web and find one a little cheaper... Also, I don't know how the rear end is set up in that thing, but may be able to score a rear end from an ez-go or something and fab up whatever mounts are necessary to make it bolt into the Toro. If I remember correctly you said that was a TEAM axle? Yamaha may be pretty close to a direct bolt-in if that's the case. Look like they should clean up pretty well and make some nice functional rigs. May be able to buy 2 clutches, get them both up and going good, clean them up and sell one for $1500 for a quick sale to cover all of your expenses and keep the other one as a freebie :) |

Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
if i can find a splined coupler that will fit.
i will give it a try. i have a lathe and an end mill. plus the **** thing is no good like it is so i can't screw anything up the splines don't look square looks like they come to a point(rounded point) at the top. that may be the kicker on finding a coupler. y'all keep me in mind if you come up with something |

Re: Toro Workman model 07279 serial 313000111
Maybe check here
https://www.mcmaster.com/spline-bore-couplings You can pull up the CAD drawings and see all of the dimensions, and order what fits. I'm sure there is something available. How you are going to get it put into the clutch itself, that's all you :) |
