It looks like the battery tray is rusted through and the battery is being held down with a zip tie. You'll want to fix that.

Dont worry about the batt tray being rusted out, I've never seen one that wasnt. Just look at the big round frame tube below it and make sure that is not also rusted through. Not a hard repair if it is, but you'll want to make sure.

In the coming weeks I'll be making a nee battery tray and tie down for my G2 (basically same thing as a G9) and can take some pictures and post measurements if youd like. Right now the "battery tray" is a cinder block

At least it wont rust!
