DS all the way, the presidents have this crazy battery set up that i can never seem to find anywhere except ordering from club car, but thats it. Ds is built much better and is tougher :D

2006 - 2009 DS cars have the exact same setup.

I have a 89 ds, and my imediate has about 9 more. The camp ground we goto in the summer has presedent carts and wow talk about no room.

I wouldn't trade my ds for nothing, since I use the cart alot at the beach, and it has to be electric to run it in the campground.

Oh I didnt know that, ive only worked on presidents and ds carts not in that year range, are you talking about the big batteries with dual fillers?

Yes... 6 holes per battery. 83 lbs a piece.

Interesting conversation. I just bought an 06 precedent. I believe I bought it from a reliable source and the few carts he had were very clean and appeared to be very well taken care of by the previous owners. We had a DS gasser and enjoyed it - very few issues and that's saying a lot considering it sat in the weather all the time for 6 years (it was an 01 retiree) and was used in mud, dirt, etc. by our kids now and then. I think I replaced the generator in it once and put a new battery in it once and that's about it other than general maint.

I'm 6'4"/225 and don't feel cramped on the precedent at all. As a matter of fact, I'm loving the seemingly bigger seat and the layed back riding position. My wife really likes the looks of the precedent better. Depending on what you are after, I think the DS's can be made to look much more aggressive for a lot less effort and money than the precedents but I've seen some pretty tough looking precedents too.

I found that, in my area at least, outside of used cart dealers, late model used electric DS's are much harder to find than the precedents right now. Not sure what that means at this point. My only concern so far, based on what I've read on this site, is the stock 48v setup (4x12v) vs. the recommended conversion setup (6x8v). The batteries in my cart were replaced in 08 with trojans and seem to be strong right now. But how long will they last is the question that only time will answer.

Not planning to do a lot with this cart. We got the rear fold down seat and I'm adding the light kit when it comes in and will add a lift and wheels/tires at some point before next summer. Other than that, maybe a stereo and speakers. It will be primarily a neighborhood and lake campground cruiser.
