brass allthread through obc
has any one do this to there cart.
3 or 4 inch brass allthread through the obc hole and a rubber washer on each side then a brass washer on each side and brass nuts on each side and snug up and one more on each side to jam nut it and then put your wires to the alltread on each side. will this work? i have a cc ds iq 6"lift and 22x11x12 tires and rims regen stock motor for now and 2 gauge wires not on yet. im going to send my motor to plum quick to rebuild. thanks |

Yes, it will work ... Make sure you stay insulated from the metal back side. You will need a double nut on each side to clamp down on your cable end solidly without crushing the OBC... and those are 2 more connections to keep clean

Re: brass allthread through obc
Not many have done this... Robbie spoke of it a while back, I dunno if he has been doing it? But take some pics of the set up. the rod, the install, and let us know right here how it goes.

Not to pee on your fire but you would have less connections to cause trouble if you left the stock cable running through the OBC and just piggyback the 2GA cable to that leg only on the outside of the OBC.

Then put that thing away .
But, there was some talk about the old 2 cable way being 100% effective. And this being an alternative...It seems some obc were not seeing enough of the real amperage to make correct decisions? I just heard it second hand from Robbie? |

Scotty, you know I'm a gas guy but I thought the OBC was for reading state of charge.
What else does it do? |

Re: brass allthread through obc
The early ones turned the charger on and off... as time went on the y got more involved and controlled more of the carts secondary wiring and tracked battery cycling history. There is a long, long thread on what all they did.... I don't have the link from Dr Bob? Somebody may?

Re: brass allthread through obc
hey thanks for the posts. do you know what size of wire will fit through the obc and can you use lube or grease on the wire? and what and how do you piggy back the wire
