Cable Upgrades for CC
Hey, I'm rebuilding a 2000 CC Electric and upgrading power cables to heavier guage to reduce losses. What's the wisdom on replacing the Battery Pack- to Motro controller B- cable (black) that passes through what appears to be a current sensor in the bulkhead feed-thru? It doesn't appear this hole will take a cable much larger than the original and would have to be post-lugged. Any advice out there?

Re: Cable Upgrades for CC
whatever you do you have to run a cable thur that hole or the cart won,t run, when you decide what cables most people go to 4 gage but you can go bigger your right the lug has to be put on after its run thur the OBC hole....................

Re: Cable Upgrades for CC
Thanks, I was just wondering, if I go as big as #0, whether some folks run a short (2") length of smaller cable to get thru the hole and immediately couple back up to larger guage, whether it's worth covering the remainder of the length in heavier guage. As IR losses are length-relative, any shortening of higher guage wires should help (at least theoretically).

Solution for OBC by Robby Steen @ PQ.
Get a all thread rod that fits in the hole. Put rubber washers on each end of it, then a flat washer and nuts. Then your lug and another nut. Make sure it has a rubber washer on it to isolate it though!. |
