Default Battery maintenance question.

Just curious. What's normal? Seems I can add water every 2 weeks. Am I not adding enough? Covered plates 2 days ago and already have a couple that look like they can use more.

What are the risks of overfilling a bit?

We do drive everyday and charge everynight.

Batteries should be filled so the water covers the plates by 1/2 inch but not higher than the level indicator (the part that protrudes into the battery from the filler hole). Add water only after charging unless the water is below the top of the plates. If the water is below the plates only add sufficient to cover the plates then charge and top up after charge is complete

I must not be putting enough in. Seems like it goes up and down depending on state.
I wasn't aware there was a level indicator. Will check em again after they charge tonight.

Levels do go up with state of charge. Which is why you fill after charging, unless the plates are exposed, then cover the plates, charge, and top off as shown.

Overfilling can lead to boiling over which results in corrosion of frames and floor and diluting of the electrolyte.

I've found the $10 Auto Shut Off Plastic Battery Filler to be my best friend!
