Default back again with another problem

2001 clubcar ds 48v.

ok i got two questions.

1. i noticed after riding up down hills and alittle mud i noticed the foward /reverse handel was getting hot. well i think i may have burned to contacts on the inside of the devise. foward works but reverse does nothing.while in reverse i can hear something click but nothing happens. it appears the foward reverse has been burnt. does any one know how to trouble shoot to make sure that it is the proplem? if it is, are ther any after market components that are beefer that can handle heavy load. all wires have been upgraded to 2 ga. including the ones that connect to the foward reverse thing.

2 after upgrading all the wires i was unable to upgrade the wire that goes through the hole in the computer. the wire is 6GA. this has got to be bottlenecking the flow of current. any ideas? i read somewear that you can run a bolt throught the whole and connect 2 or 4 ga on both sides.

You can either put a stud through the OBC and connect a cable on each side or run the old and new cables together, leaving the old one for the OBC to read.

I use a modified 36v F&R on the 48v cart. All the switch contacts are heavier, they seem to hold up really well.

do you have a part # for the 36v f/r and how did you modify to make it work.

I modify it to hold & activate 2 more micro switches and add a buss bar... The older model switch for the 36v cart actually was built for higher amperage. Engineering knew when they went up in voltage they would be going down in amperage ( in a stock cart design) so they lightened up the F&R which is a problem for a modified 48v series CC.
