Default 98 DS new batteries/charger/cables dash light still on

Looking for info i just acquired a CC DS ser #A9836 with a bad charger and batteries
I bought a new thunderbull charger and 6 8volt interstate batteries some of the cables had badly corroded ends so i crimped new ends on all of the cables that were good and replaced the others while i was at it i removed every bolt on electrical connection on the cart other than under dash took the accelerator potentiometer and fwd/rev lever apart and cleaned all contact surfaces battery pack measures 51 volts across pack after initial charge before use took a 10 min drive measured 49.5 volts
The problem that i have is that after the charger turns off the dash light will illuminate for 30 sec off for 5 on for 7 off for 5 on for 30 and keeps repeating this cycle regardless
It is my understanding that this means a problem with the charging
The car drives fine a little sluggish on mild hill but i laid that on it being lifted with 22 inch tires
If any one can tell me what else i need to look at it would be appreciated thanks

Car was given to me after sitting in shop for 3 years when charger transformer shorted
I feel like it is worth fixing for a hunting buggy

Someone tell me if my thinking is correct
after browsing a sh@@ pot full of stickies and other members post and problems i realised that a 98 CC DS is a little more intelligent than i thought
In thinking about my battery/computer light i realized that for the computer to monitor voltage/current usage it needed two inputs voltage and amperage to do this and the computer had no connections large enough to monotor amps i remembered reading about putting a #4 cable through the computer whoever put the #4 cables on this car didnt do that they routed the negative cable just like the positive cable through the framework so i cut the lug off of the cable ran it through the hole in the computer crimped a new lug on
when i installed the new batteries and did the initial charge the charger cut off with the ammeter still showing about 12 amps after i rerouted cable it has went down to 8 and is still going
if i am right this means that i didnt have a full charge on batteries to start with and it was telling me that it need more information to work with and that the computer has a way of measuring amps as long as the cable is ran right
i will see if it turns the light out in the morning eye lids are to heavy to go on tonight

What happened after a full charge? You should always charge your new pack fully before the first test drive. Nice looking free cart!
