Re: eratic spark in 1989 ez go
Yea, again it was just something I had laying around.I believe it's from a late model Chevy Suburban.

Re: eratic spark in 1989 ez go
just thought I would let you know that I pulled my ignitor today and tried it on a cart that has good spark. Got the same result (eratic to no spark), even the readings from the pulsar on the test cart were the same or similar to the reading off of my bad ignitor cart. Gonna start looking for parts to go to HEI.

Re: eratic spark in 1989 ez go
Purchased a ignition module for a '76 gm 350ci - installed it on the cart and it had good spark. Tried to start and it took off, runs pretty good. Took it for a short test drive and it sputtered a little and seemed to get hot in the engine compartment. I didn't replace the stock coil. Maybe I am wrong but it sures seems warm at the spark plug, couldn't hardly touch it. Is this a problem?

Re: eratic spark in 1989 ez go
Your plug sits directly over the combustion chamber so it's bound to get hot.Just to be safe though you may want to see if you can get the flywheel cover and engine tin off to see if there is any crap built up in the cooling fins.If the fins are clean then you should be ok.Just be careful pulling the flywheel cover because of the oil mixer pump lines.

sometimes you can get a misfire with hei conversion. try swapping the red and blue wires from the pulsar. this sometimes helps.

Re: eratic spark in 1989 ez go
Thanks guys. I'll give your advice a try. As i mentioned i didn't replace the stock coil yet, would i be better off if i did? I have an old one that fits a '72 plymoutn 360ci, would that work?

Re: eratic spark in 1989 ez go
I'd imagine so, but if your old coil is putting out I'd leave it alone. But as I said, I don't even know what my coil came from so I'd think Mopar would be fine.
