Default Re: Battery boiling and cart wont run

Sorry Guys,
I was out of the loop for a few days. I did post my question on the other forum after not having any response from here, in the beginning.

Ok, after taking the advice from Tom, I bought a load tester and tested my batteries. I just purchased the $29.00 one from Harbor Freight.

Guess what, the battery that tested just fiine (also the one which blew its top) failed immediately under load.

Now I need to find a used battery to replace it before I can determine if that was the full problem or not..

I understand that replacing a single battery is not a good idea, but I cant replace all 6 at this time. I am looking for a used battery to get me by until this fall when I do hope to replace the complete set.

I am shocked that one of six batteries could test good yet cause the entire cart to quit.

Lots to learn I guess.

Thanks to all who replied and offfered help, and a big Thank you to Shadowman for his help in solving this issue for me.
I'll post my final results once I have replaced the battery..

In response to camaroluvz28, NO, there was NO spark when I jumped the solenoid. I did hear the clicking of the solenoid but nothing else during that test..

Think of one bad cell in a battery being like a switch. If it is off no current flows. Yes, one bad cell will stop you dead!
Also remember that an open circuit voltage test will only show you a battery's relative charge. It won't show you if it can pass current! :)
