Default 2001 iq ?

Ok just purchased a 2001 CC DS. Is this an IQ cart? It has the FR switch instead of a lever. I have heard that IQ carts serial # start out as AQ. Mine starts out AC. AC0104-xxxxxxx to be exact. What can you tell me about it. Can I do the magnet trick with it?

Thanks CartTrader

Hmmm, IQ carts did not come out until 2002. Make sure you are reading the serial tag right. The first two numbers after the letter or letters is the year.

Just found this in a sticky:

A= DS Electric Golf Car
AA= DS Electric Golf Car, 48 Volt System
AB= DS Electric Golf Car, 36 Volt System
AC= DS Electric Golf Car, 48 Volt Regen
AQ= Electric I.Q. Golf Car, 48 Volt Regen
B= Chassis Only, Electric Golf Car, 48 Volt
C= Electric Industrial Vehicle
D= Fairway Villager, 4-Passenger Utility Vehicle
CQ= Chassis, Indio 48 Volt I.Q. Utility Vehicle
E= Carryall II Electric Utility Vehicle
EA= Carryall II Electric Pickup Utility Vehicle
F= Carryall I Electric Utility Vehicle
FA= Carryall I Electric Pickup Utility Vehicle
FQ= Villager 4 I.Q. Utility Vehicle
H= Turf 1 Electric Utility Vehicle
HA= DS Electric 36 Volt Solid State Utility Vehicle
JA= Carryall VI Electric Utility Vehicle
K= Resort Villager Electric Utility Vehicle
L= Limo (8 Passenger) Electric Vehicle
LA= Limo Electric, 48 Volt Vehicle
LB= Limo Electric, 48 Volt Regen
LX = Lynx Hunting Vehicle (Gas & Electric)
M= Resort Villager XL Electric Vehicle
PQ= Precedent IQ
S= Turf 2 Electric Utility Vehicle
T= Tourall / Villager 4 Electric Utility Vehicle

You have a DS Electric Golf Car, 48 Volt Regen, non IQ.

Because it is not an IQ, you cannot use a magnet. You will have to upgrade controller, motor, wiring, etc to gain more speed and torque.

Thanks ... Just saw this in the stickies and was going to post when I saw you did already. By the way the serial# is AC0140 not AC0104. So I guess it is a 2001 1/2

Yes, of course. I think all you have to do is look behind the motor and there will be a little pigtail coming off the motor itself. Pull that plug and it is now disabled. This is what I have heard from this forum...

No, you cannot get rid of regen by disconnecting the speed sensor, the cart will not run. You wil have to put a magnet in or a speedylink. Possibly reprogram controller to private speed code. You cannot put a series motor into a sepex system, if your motor has a pigtail off the back then you have a sepex motor.
