Subwoofer ideas - anyone?
My stereo/speaker setup sounds just great to me, especially for a cart system. But my son wants to kick it up a notch with a subwoofer. I have a Kenwood head unit with the preamp outputs on it. I'd like to go with a powered sub so I don't have to install a separate amp since my unit produces plenty of watts and sound to the regular speakers. I was thinking maybe one of those tubes that would fit between the seats that could be removed fairly easily to prevent theft. Or maybe one in an enclosure that I could somehow mount underneath the rear passenger seat. My 12v source for accessories is a dedicated marine battery that I have mounted in the bagwell. So, getting juice to either of those locations would be fairly easy.
Has anyone done either of these things that could make some recommendations? |

Here's a link to what I did.......
I have a similar setup with a Kenwood receiver and nice sounding speakers. I added an 8 inch amplified Bazooka tube sub underneath the cart. Sounds awesome and is up out of the way. Good luck! Randy |

Where is the link? Is Bazooka a brand name or just a style? I'm going under the assumption that the hookup for these is to run a pre-amp feed to the sub and then 12v power to it. I've installed quite a few aftermarket stereos in my time but never rigged a separate sub.

It is a brand. I used to have a pair of the 8in in an old Celica I had and they would thump pretty good with 90 watts each. They do make them now with internals amps in a marine grade. http://www.bazooka.com/ is a link

Bazooka is a brand. Mine is 250 watt amp built into the sub. I have it wired to my stereo so when it turns on the amp is powered. Generally most of the newer stereos have a wire specifically for that. Let me know if you have any other questions. |
