A nice fresh engine with say 10 hours on it should be at 140 (ish) psi but anything over 100 psi will be good. Below 100 psi and you should start budgeting for a rebuild and below 70 is time to bite the bullet.

I also have a 89 2 stroke marathon does it matter on the compression if it vareys from running the test in forward to reverse like mine forward it read 110 psi reverse 90 psi and does the engine have to be warmed up or can it be tested cold thanks in advance
