Default 1996 club car (surging)

Hello all
I have a problem with a 96 model cc electric. It runs out fine flat out but if you want to cruse around say about half throttle it seems to want to surge on you??? Would that be speed controller? pot box?? any advice ???
Thanks in advance Harley

I have never heard of a sparky surging- usually just the gassers do that.
This cart probably has a pot box being a 96, and that would be my guess, a faulty pot.
You can get an MCOR conversion kit, which is a much more reliable setup.
CC only used pots for one year, they were that bad...

well let me tell you alittle history about this cart. it a 96 with a foward / reverse rocker switch and a tow / run switch under the seat.???? 48 volt with the charger port waaayyy to the left. it looks like a gas converted to electric and I say that only because the frame dosenot look like any sparkies iv had it flairs out at the rear. does that help. I hate to spend alot of money on it cause it is for sale but other then the slight surge it runs fine

Interesting... Could you post a couple of pics of the cart? All electrics I've seen have the charge plug in the middle.
It sounds like a regen cart, since it has a run/tow switch.

My 08 sucks at half throttle. Think Scottyb said it somewhere else, but it is truly sad that after 40 years plus of golf cart manufacturing that CC could not build a dependable throttle. I really hope CC reads this.

96 cc with a tow switch? Whats the serial number under the passenger glove box?

I call it jerkiness at lower throttle input, not really surging.
