Once charged it will not fully drain for days it will hold about 50% of it's charge voltage normally. Not to mention the diode will provide charging resistance for future power ups as well.

Just to update. It works great now. I had the parts from another life I used to do. I forgot I had to isolate the power outlet from the converter. The diode in line of the pos wire to the power outlet did the trick. I had put a 3300 uf cap on the wires at the power outlet but it was not working. The diode on the pos wire from the converter did the trick.
