Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
If the solenoid always clicks, it's almost certainly what ScottyB suggested. The only exception would be bad contacts in the solenoid, which would click, but not conduct. I'd clean the contacts of the wiper board, as ScottyB recommended.

When I push the gas pedal down I have 37 volts across the two little contacts of the solenoid. I also have 37 - 38 volts across the two big contacts at all times whether the pedal is pushed or not. Any ideas?? |

Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
At full throttle the resistors aren't used, so a quick check would be to go straight to full throttle.

Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
I'm a series guy, and don't have any experience with resistor carts. I just glanced at a wiring diagram and saw a few things it might be. Someone with hands-on experience could give you real world advise based on experience.

Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
I ran into something similar the other day, turned out that my dog had bumped the F/R switch. I had the same symptoms. Try moving the F/R switch to both limits. A not-quite-completely rotated key switch can do the same thing.
Also, the resistor coil is just that -- check for low resistance across the ends of the coil, after disconnecting it from the wiper board. If you get infinite ohms, it's open somewhere. Hope that helps... RLW '84 Marathon resistor cart |
