Try reversing the pulsar wires red to blue and blue to red see what difference it makes.

Ok here is an update. Still the same problem.

I got the new pulsar installed.
I tried to reverse the pulsar wires and it ran at an even lower rpm.
I adjusted the timing per the manual with no difference.
I borrowed another cart with the same engine that was running. I swapped the carburetors and it made no difference in either cart.
I checked the the compression again it is 110 in forward and reverse.
I pulled off the hose from the fuel pump to the carburetor and it seems to be pumping enough fuel.
tested the spark at the spark plug and that is working.

I am going to try and swap out the engine clutch with the cart that is running fully to see what that does.

Does anyone else have any suggestions.

I just swapped out the clutches with no major change to either cart. I noticed on the working cart I am getting a whole lot more RPM than the cart I am working on. For some reason, I am not getting the RPM I should. There is no governor on this cart.

So, I got gas. I have compression, I have spark.

I do not know if the spark is happening at the right time though. I am thinking there might be an issue with my HEI and Chevy coil. The working cart still has an ezgo igniter and coil. Maybe I should put those on my cart and see what happens.

Some modules have built in timing retard (or is it advance) into the module. I would first try adjusting the timing all the way one way you can, then the other to see if motor runs better. Do this for just long enough to check if it runs better. if it helps, different module should fix it.

OK, So I used the wiring guide in the HEI Module installation sticky to rewire my cart. I had the ground and positive wiring backwards on my coil. I was then able to switch my pulsar wiring again like suggested earlier in the thread and the cart is now running better. It is not as fast as the other cart though. It also slows down going up hill with 2 people in it, so the torque is not as good as I would have liked. I tested the compression on the other cart and it was 130. The compression on my cart is 110. I am thinking that 20psi is the difference in speed.

Could the difference in the PSI make a noticeable difference in speed and the torque going uphill?

I think everyone with helping me. You guys are the only people I could find that will even talk about these old ezgo carts.

Ok here is another update. I replaced the spark plug with a NGKBR5EIX as recommended by DonoBBD in the HEI thread. The cart is running really good now. I may strip down the body to get it a paint job. Then rebuild the seats with new wood and new seat covers. Outside of the cosmetic stuff, I am going to leave it as is.

JCue, can I get access to the manual for the 85 244cc you posted earlier in this thread? Tried to access but it does not seem to work right. Really need that. Having issues with same engine. Thanks!
