E-Z-Go Marathon

I have a marathon that when you hit the accelerator it takes off like a bat outta h---. We replaced the potentiometer & solenoid. Any ideas the cart has a speed controller (not resistor) could that be the cause.

No kidding. I spent a lot of money to make mine take off fast! LOL!

test potentiometer

You need a multi tester (voltmeter) with an ohms Ω setting. Set the range to 0-20,000 ohms. Unplug the 2 wires that go from the potentiometer to the controller #2 & #3 (mark them for reinstall )
Insert your test leads into these two wire's spade ends... the meter should read less than a few ohms.
Press the gas peddle and watch the meter. It should rise to 5000 but not more than 6000. This should be a smooth transition with no spikes.
If the cart is in reverse this reading is reduced by 50%.

if it tests good and is wired correctly (#2 black & #3 white), then controller is bad
