Re: problem with starting a 91 clubcar
I am not sure if you have electronic ignition or not. Mine did something similar and it was the coil. Try that. I found a coil for $53 in Belleville MI

Re: problem with starting a 91 clubcar
i have already replaces the combination ignition coil/rpm limiter. this was a devise that had a 3 wire lead plus a separate single wire lead. it also had the new spark plug cable. does anyone know if there is a part inside the engine that can be repaired. the 3 wair lead goes behind the engine cover? thanks

Re: problem with starting a 91 clubcar
that lead that goes behind the cover goes to the exiter coil.........when the cart won,t start you need to see why, is there spark and is there fuel.........so when it won,t start check it for spark and if you have it than pull the fuel line off at the carb and see if its pumping good fuel...............in most cases when the exiter coil goes bad it just goes bad and cart won,t start ............i havn,t seen one yet that works for awhile and than dosn,t and than does.........if it is the exiter coil you need to take that cover off and than the flywheel and the coil is mounted behind the flywheel...............................

Re: problem with starting a 91 clubcar
ok. fixed the problem. i checked the microswirches, and all were working fine. so the only thing left to replace was the exciter behind the flywheel. i found one online, replaced it and ......it works again. thank god. i ran out of options to replace. thanks for all your help.

Re: problem with starting a 91 clubcar
sure will. also, i checked all wiring before going to this extent. i made sure that nothing was shorting out also. i unplugged, cleaned and replugged everything before i took the pains to disassemble the enging and flywheel. I tested all micro switches and all worked fine. ill keep you abreast. also, before i replaces the exciter, i replaced the rpm limiter and ignitor unit. that did not solve the problem. this was my last ditch effort before i drove my tractor over the thing hehe.
