Default Throttle Micro switches

I'm an EZGO owner but I have an (undeserved) reputation as someone who can fix anything with a motor and so it came to pass that I was given a 2006 Precedent with some issues. In the course of fault finding I ended up with the micro switch on the throttle pedal and I pulled the black box off the throttle. Now with the thing in my hand I was able to determine that there are two switches in there and both are working so my question is purely academic, and here it is.

I tried to open the box and it appears that it is sealed up. I gently tried to prize the lid off but the plastic started to crack. I tried to gently tap on it with a similar result. So my question is, did Club Car seal that box to ensure that a $5 micro switch is actually a $100 module exchange or does that box open up?
