Default 2008 CC Carryall Swap Q’s

I just purchased a tired, but well kept 2008 CC Carryall. I want to do a motor/clutch swap instead of a rebuild on the existing Kawasaki power plant. I am after smooth power.

I am looking for any suggestions on brands/models of gas motors that will make this as easy as possible. I am a fan of Honda motors but know nothing about compatibility or fitment issues. I’ll also be replacing the front end and rear suspension as part of this rebuild.

The v-twins are certainly smoother than a single cylinder.

The common list is: (cheap first)
420 clone
460 clone at VC
625 big clone at VC
22hp predator twin
vanguard twin

Some use other engines this is just more common swaps.

I'd want to see the 625 run in person, especially at part throttle. I have trouble believing a single that big is smooth enough for a regular use cart. Not saying it isn't, just that I'm not convinced.

Based on my own experience.. a stock 389 or a 420 clone should have plenty of power for the intended use. I have a 389 cc on it now but I had a 240cc Honda in my EZGO cart and it would pull a 4x7x2 ft heavy steel box trailer across turf loaded to the brim with landfill 'donations'. Gave it a bit of a workout but it did it no problem. The 8 HP Honda would also run the cart down the road at 18 mph (GPS'd). It was willing to go a little faster but that's speedy enough in a cart with only dinky rear drum brakes to stop it and suspension/steering intended for golf course use. I read here somewhere that fat tires are bad with low HP/torque numbers too but I have 26x12-12 ATV tires on the back and 22x11-8's on the front and have never noticed any issues.
