Re: Carb Problem
does the engine appear to be blowing air out of the intake when you try to start it after it shuts off?

Re: Carb Problem
I had a 1997 do that one time. They have completely different engines, but the exhaust valve was seized on it. Check your compression and let us know what you get.

Re: Carb Problem
Also check the exhaust, it could be clogged.

Re: Carb Problem
Remove the breather hose from the air filter canister and run the engine until it starts spitting gas. Put your hand over the hole and see if air is coming back out, and see if covering the hole helps at all.
Being that hold, a new carburetor may be the easiest and most economical solution. |

Re: Carb Problem
That sounds about right for that carburetor. That engine is a discontinued item from Kawasaki, so their parts are going to be pretty steep. You can get an OEM one from a site sponsor for around that probably.

Re: Carb Problem
When you cleaned the carb, did you pull the bowl and remove the float and needle valve? If not try that. I had one do this same thing and actually had to completely tear down the carb. twice and clean it thoroughly. Then had to drive it quite a bit for two days and it finally worked itself out. This was on a 98 CC that had sit for over a year. I also replaced all the gas with fresh.
