Default 2005 Club Car Precedent won't go

Sometimes when I press the accelerater, the cart will not go. Put in reverse and still no go. I can hear a soft clicking around the accelerator only. I assume there is some type of switch there.

When it does go, I hear a louder clicking under the seat. I hear this louder clicking when accelerator is pressed and when accelerator is depressed another click. I assume this is the solenoid?

Is the accelerator switch bad or the solenoid? How do I test each of them separately?

Thanks for any answers.

i would think its your soleniod going bad...............you can jack the rear end up and with a peice of 6 gage cable jump the large post on soleniod see if cart runs and than just replace it with a HD one you should be good to go.........................

I believe the cart will take off on you if you don't. I think he meant to jack up the rear wheels.

OK, see what you mean by jack up rear end.

Does not do it all the time. When selinoid clicks it goes, when it does not click it does not go.

I hear the soft click of the accelerator all the time, when it goes and when it does not go.

Not sure which one is bad or going bad.

How can I pin point which one it is?

After u jack up the back of the cart, access the solinoid. take either a 6 guage cable or even a screwdriver, and touch both large posts on the solinoid. if the car GOES, do it a few more times until hopefully it doesn't go. If it eventually doesn't go, then the solinoid is no good. Hopefully, the first time you try this, it won't go.
Give this a try and let us know what you find.

i think your solenoid is going out just working when it feels like it......i would start by replacing it you might find thats the end of it........not uncommon at all for a solenoid to go bad in that manner........................

I believe just the opposite is true,
1. if by jumping the solenoid the cart always goes
and does not always go without the jumper , the solenoid is bad ?

I have tried touching the 2 large post on the solenoid and it never goes when I do this.

When I am not touching the 2 large post it goes in spurts, in runs OK for a while and then it doesn't.

When it is working OK, touching the selonoid still does not work.

The cart is a 48V precedent. Batteries check at 51 Volts.
