Default 4 cycle rear end ?

The plant where My son is working scraped out a cart and they confused what he had said about it , he said he wanted it for the rear end out of it so they cut the rear end out and gave it to him and threw the rest of it away. Now I have the rear end and don't really know what it is out of or what year.
need brake drums for it and all I have is "model #ME29" this may not be an ezgo but I really don't know what it is exactly except that it works abd has a massive driven clutch still attached.

I'm a rookie cart guy so I can't say about a `74 model but the 93 EZGO transaxle with fwd/rev I found (after looking for a year) bolted right into my 1990 Marathon. I have new cables on the way but the existing rusty old brake cables would have hooked up fine. No shifter though. That's going to take some fab work. Did you get the shifter mechanism with yours?

No I only have the channel with the holes it it ends of it where the cables hook up / no cables / no shifter / no brake drums / no axle nuts / no brake cables / but I do have a 4 cycle rear end after looking for one for over 3 years / all that other stuff can be worked out .

Upon closer examination I'm finding thet the old rear end is welded into the swing arm
the 4 cycle rear has leaf springs ? Better to build new sub frame and use the springs or cut the old rear out of it's mount and weld the 4 cycle in to it / width is perfect . I think the 4 cycle one came out of a workhorse maby , and having never seen one of those up close I'm a little confused . I have plenty of material to build a sub frame and just do away with the swing arm ,, cart is to be used around the farm and not for trail riding more for fence repair and pulling a trailer rigid would not be out of the question .

That would be quite a chore to cut the rear end off the mounts wouldn't it?

Bugs me to think that the parts I could have used for mine were likely tossed in a scrap pile. My 4 cycle transaxle has coil spring mounts. I found the best year I could have for my 1990 Marathon. It was right when they were changing models. I think I'm going to go with a mechanical shift linkage instead of a stock double cable assembly. I don't have the bracket that fastens to the shifter shaft on the tranny and but I found a new 3" long flat bracket that will fit the shaft.

Cut the mounts off your original axle, and weld them to the 4-cycle axle.I just did the same thing on the Yami-rear I put in my Marathon.(See 18hp Briggs Opposed Marathon Swap)Thread for pics.
