Make charger go with cart not other way club car to ez go
Hi all I have an issue I have a textron charger that has a bad capacitor issue and told it will cost 250 to fix by the shop so I have an older late 70s charger for a club car it has the crow feet Plug. Can I add a crow Plug receptacle to my 86 ez go marathon to use that charger instead of paying the huge fee? They are both 36 volts so I would think just positive to pos and negative to neg and good to go? I have even heard just get a dryer plug and lose the common? Any help is appreciated

Just take the plug off the Textron charger and put it on your other one. + to + and - to -.
When I bought a new charger it came with the "new" style EZGO plug. I took the plug off the old charger and put it on the new one and I was done. Or go with something like this. |

Thank you so much
The problem is that I still the charger with the crow plug for my club car. Do they make an adapter to go from crow plug to square? So I could use one charger for both |

So like get a receptacle on one end to plug into the crow and then attach the old Plug to it?

Yes so long as the connections are secure and it is safe to handle you should be set. These connections only conduct about 20 amps max, so no big deal....

If it's only a bad capacitor you could always try buying a new one. Only try this if you're competent working on capacitors, and always discharge as they can hold a charge.

Re: Make charger go with cart not other way club car to ez go
I bought a capacitor for my charger like that at a local electric motor repair shop and it was about $25.00. Just be sure they match the capacity on it. A small capacitor will charge but at a lesser rate. Golf cart repair parts are 10x regular price and lot of times you can get the same stuff elsewhere by looking and comparing specs on the part. Textron did not make the capacitor anyway. Gene Davis
