Marathon body swap with newer?
Good evening all,
I'm over here in London and very interested in getting into modding Buggies/Carts! They are very expensive over here so I have just purchased my first one, a Ezgo marathon 4 cyclinder. It's very tidy from being privately owned since new and I would to stick a newer front end on, maybe a txt? Has anyone done this before, how hard is it? Is there much adjustment needed? I'm also interested to see if anyone has any spare parts etc, as they are really hard to get hold of over here, and when I find a battered second hand part, its still like a gazillion pound. Thanks in advance for any help, I'm a complete novice to this and happy to learn. |

Re: Marathon body swap with newer?
If you have a steel body in the same basic shape as the plastic TXT one, they will fit. If you have the square front end, good luck.
I would love to see that 4 cyl. |

Welcome! The body-swaps aren't too bad, just a little time-consuming getting screws and rivets out. There are quite a few threads here about doing them.

If it's very tidy why change the frontend? Marathons look cool lifted.

Re: Marathon body swap with newer?
Thanks for all the advice so far..
I've a big workshop which makes things easier in regards to fabricating a new chassis to fit different cowls etc, I'm just not entirely sure how I want the 'beast to look'. I like the look of the headlight cowl cover, however I think ill strip them both down, the cowl and cover, and blend into one with a bit of fibreglass. Its absolutely immaculate, the owner has had it from new to use around his garden, and has used it maybe 3-4 times a year. I've seen Jakes 4" lift kit, which I going to order from one of the US stores and get it shipped over, however it seems that its only a front lift? Or am I just being stupid? I've just bought 2 8 x 4 sheets of Diamond/chequer plate aluminium sheets and a metal bender so I can make all my own kick plates etc. Im Struggling to find some decent wheels and tyres to be honest that dont cost me an absolute fortune. You have such great selections in the US but we have sod all over here in the UK i have researched that they are a 4" x 4" stud pattern, so 4 x 100 will fit ok. I just don't know what to get, there are some cool deep dish Mini wheels that I could chuck some huge tyres on. However I still need to keep it course able as I do want to use it for golf every now and then, more so just to see the other old farts faces when I turn up on a jacked up beast! Does anyone know of any sites other than Ebay where I can get hold of second hand cowls? |

What year is your Marathon arsenal? there should be a tag on it some where and how about a picture?
If it is a 4 cycle It could be a Metalist? (single seat back) |

Re: Marathon body swap with newer?
Hi, sorry for the dealt, mad busy at work.
Please find links to pics....I hope it works! http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9f3e382f.jpg http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5b52803f.jpg So this is what I have planned... A lift, some 14" alloys, roof removal, custom sporty windscreen, full body manipulation with repaint with ghost flames in block metal flake orange and Black background. Re trim the seats, drop and customise back rests, custom dash, stereo install etc. Front and rear light kit. I'm hoping to fit in a fridge/cool box somewhere, and upgrade the engine... I'd like some advice on this front as I've seen a Honda 19hp generator engine that I like the look of, I just wonder who has changed the engine and how difficult it is to get right? |
