Soldering cables i dont recommend desimular metal cause corrosion if you get a loose terminal connection on the post it will heat the solder melt it to where the cable has no connection bad idea dont know where it started from but i wont do it.I have seen it look good but have wiggled the cable and cable pulls out in side of lug is all corroded.

With you on not soldering. heat cold expansion/shrinking too can cause loose connections.

Many years ago , spent days replacing soldered ground wires
connections, with crimped connections at a military radar site.
Found several cracked / loose connections
Stuff like that your remember.

Maybe many many years ago,


Solder works when done right, don't glob it on or use it a filler on a loose connection.
If the solder wicks up the cable , it makes it stiff & more susceptible to breaking with bending & movement.
