Battery Rejuvenation - pulse radiant energy battery desulfation
Does this work? I have been reading about it on several different websites. I have some batteries less than 2 years old, they are the 8V Sam's Club Duracell brand. They wont hardly hold a charge anymore. I had cart stored at my fathers farm, left on charger, and he forgot to check water levels for like 4 months. Cart would hardly move to load on trailer. Water levels were way below plates. Are these just poop batteries, and I should just get some good ones and start over?
I refilled them with distilled water, but now they wont hold much charge to get me but about 1 mile before acting like they are about to die. Is there a way to repair them? any recommendations would be appreciated before I Drop $1000 on new batteries. Another thing, I am seeing lots of battery rejuvenators for 12V batteries, will these work for 8V batteries? Some state that they work for 12-48V, can i just hook one of these up to my bank of series batteries, (6x 8V batteries, so 48V total)? |

Re: Battery Rejuvenation - pulse radiant energy battery desulfation
There are many "rejuvenating" snake oils out there. The one thing that I know works to "bring back" your batteries for a while depending on physical condition is a rejuvenating machine that FSIP sells. My buddy has one and if you have decent batteries that are not extremely bloated or cells that are totally shot it will extend the life for some sets I have seen maybe a year. It desulfates the cells and uses some process that breaks down the crystals that stick to the plates. I wouldnt add any chemicals to a cell like many manufacturers market for personally. That might offer some temporary solution due to a chemical reaction however the batteries will drop off the chart very quickly soon after.

The guy I bought the cart from believes in Epsom Salt
It had 4 year old Interstate batts & he cycled them 3 or 4 cycles with about 1/4 cup of epsom salt in each cell, I got 2-1/2 months of use , (4 rounds of golf per week) When I went down in Nov, charged it up, they did good for a couple rounds then wouldn't fully charge. I have no idea if the epsom salt worked, Might have been the cycling them that brought them back enough to get a few more months of light use. The Summer's hot temps reduce battery life & with no charging cycles, not sure how that effects them. Bought new 875 trojans, in early Dec. He says with good maintenance, I should get 5 to 6 years. But that's "Snow bird" use. 4 - 5 months use per year in winter, the cooler months. Adding magnesium sulfate to them ? May try it in a few years if/when the batts show signs of dropping off. I use distilled water only, that what the book calls for. We'll see. |
