How do I tell what yr gas motor for club cart?

I recently bought a 1985 club cart that has a different motor in it. How do I know what year the motor actually is?

Which way does the motor turn? CW or CCW ?
Does the motor have a flat head or a valve cover?
The late model motors had a year sticker on them.
