Default Deluxe light kit brake-RXV

I just installed a deluxe light in my rxv. Everything works great except the brake lights. I plugged the 2 wires in and put this thing in the foot pedal. Did I put this thing on the foot pedal correctly?

All I can say is I'm sorry you did that to your rxv.

Yes you put it on right. But- those aren’t very good switches. You usually really have to punch them.

To the point you are forcing the motor brake to lock, causing frequent, expensive repairs. That's why I said "sorry". I'm gonna have to say it, back to the "pizza box diagram". And just avoid those pedal pad switches shown in tha picture.

I certainly don’t plan to push the brake hard enough to where the motor brake locks up. So, you are saying the only way it will work is to push the brake all the way down? If so, it will tear the brake up.

I cant stand those cheap "deluxe light kits" for these very reasons. I strongly prefer oem light kits, but I have posted several things about how to (pretty easily) let the controller handle those duties when using aftermarket light kites. Every rxv was wired in a way that the controller could handle brake lights.

Can you send me a link or something where you previously talked about the controller and brake lights on the rxv?

It was for integrating into a different system. But, the brake light solenoid portion is what you need. Do the solenoid part under your cup holders, and route the wires from your "pedal pad" to that. It might take a little thinking & work on your part, but it will be the smoothest working way it can be done. We are here to help you get it done

Awesome! Thank you. I will look into it. What a dumb idea on the parking brake sensor pad that I got.

Read it through. If you think its wacky how ezgo used a 48v system to activate a 24v relay to power 12v brake lights, you wouldn't be the first to think that. Don't worry, that's how they did it, use their setup & we will help if you want to make it smooth & seamless.
