Default Club Car Shift Knob Removal

Having a hard time removing the gear shift knob on my 03 gas club. Feel like I'm about to break it. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Welcome to BGW BCJ!

Here's a silly question....
You did remove the phillips screw that holds the shifter handle on, right?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If you did... leave the 3 screws and nuts on, (that holds the whole unit on the body,)
use a thin piece of wood on the body, (I used a door shim) with a large flat bladed screwdriver,
and gently pry it where the shaft comes through the body,
Working a little at the top, then the bottom of the shaft, under the shifter handle!
It should slide off!

I did this with my '07... because, I put one of these on!

Hey Lockman, Where did you get that? I like it! Is it a problem when you lift the seat ?

It's made by All Sports... I got it through Cart Parts Plus!

And yes, it does get in the way when the shifter is in neutral, or reverse...
But, I have NOooo problem with that!

Tom (CPP) doesn't keep it as a stock item... yet...
so, it's not on his website!

I found it on the All Sports Site,
Accessories...
Club Car DS...
Stainless...

http://www.allsportsliftkits.com/ind...hy=Accessories

Then I called CPP and ordered it!

Don't feel bad, BCJ. I was told there is supposed to be a screw holding it on, but there's no screw in mine. I disconnected the shifter cable, made a drawing of the wires and disconnected them. I took the body off and left the lever in place. I figure if I ever have to get the lever off, I'll cut it off the shaft and replace it with a new one. hth
