Post HELP !! hope i get more from this than other post

Can't find anything on net, what should the valve clearance be for a 1991 CC flathead FZ340D engine... anyone have a clue ???????????????

Valve clearance for both intake and exhaust is .004 to .008 cold.
To adjust first check your clearance
Tappet caps come in sizes .106, .114, .124, .134, .144.
You just got to do the backwards math and buy the proper cap.

Check with engine at TDC of compression stroke, make sure both valves are closed.

To get the caps off you have to remove the cylinder.

thanks for the replies, i have no idea whats going on with that engine, the guy building it said one of the valves were tight...and wanted to know what the clearance should be.

If the valve lash is tight the valve is wearing into the seat or mushrooming. Regular wear and tear.

Not my motor, but I would have thought the guy building the motor would have had some specs before starting. Just sayin....

he's good, mostly does motorcycles...I think he'll do fine once we get all specs
