Hi torque occurs from a parallel DC motor. Hi RPM's Come from a series Motor. Most ac controlers use capasitive and Inductive reactance to come up with an apperent power.
there is no actual switch going on either physically or electronicaly, that can be defind as series or parallel. Granted solid state Motor speed controllers are so much better than Nicrom wire relay controlers. The futures is in a controller that can preform the trick to rewire the motor from a parallel to a series configuration while you using it. Sound like a digital problem to me... where are the programers when I need them...
