88 Marathon Rebuild advice
Im a new cart builder.
I have a 36 volt 1988 Marathon. I have some questions Is a marathon good lifted is it worth it, they only sell block lifts? Will a lifted ez go with 22/11 tires fit in the back of a full size truck? |

Re: 88 Marathon Rebuild advice
It all depends on the condition. Block lifts are pretty cheap too. I think you can fit it in the back of a full size. The only trouble you'll have is getting over the wheel wells.

Re: 88 Marathon Rebuild advice
I have a 88 EZGo and it will fit between the wheel wells of my full size truck. It is a close fit so if you put larger tires on it you may have to make ramps to get over the wheel wells. If you like the looks of the 88s then go for the build up IMHO.

Re: 88 Marathon Rebuild advice
'88 Marathon is a resistor coil cart and will heat the coils excessively at slow speeds with big tires...... Also they are a very heavy all metal cart.... IMHO , go for a newer controller cart.

Re: 88 Marathon Rebuild advice
Scotty B is 100% correct and REALLY knows his stuff--I assumed your cart was already converted to controller because you were considering a lift. Bolt on parts for older Marathons are available but harder to find. I had better luck calling the pros/sponsors than checking the web when looking for parts. They dont always have all available parts listed online. Additionally, the pros can usually find cool stuff I didnt know I could get I.e. rockers etc...These guys rock try calling them with whichever project you decide on:
http://www.everythingcarts.com/ Check out the site sponsor page for more help. although it requires tons of reading, ingenuity, creativity and help from the good folks on this board---I will say----There is a certain notstalgic satisfaction/value to rebuilding and older cart that kicks arse:) |

Re: 88 Marathon Rebuild advice
Danny, I don't mean to discourage you. I'm jus sayin in an ideal world, if I was looking for a project cart..... Not to say that there are not A LOT of nice old Marathon Carts lifted and Boosted out there serving there intended purposes
