![]() I have a 93 Club Car DS that I would like to get more torque and speed out of. The cart is a 36 volt V-glide with the resistors. This is my first electric cart so I am looking for ways to beef it up. I will be using it for hunting. I need to have the power to climb hills, nothing severe, and would like to get the speed up to about 20mph if possible. I would like to convert it to 48 volts and install a controller. I have read where you can use the existing motor for 48 volts but what kind of torque/speed can I reasonably get out of this? I want a good reliable cart when finished. Any help and ideas are definitely welcome. Thanks!!! Let me know if I need to supply more info!!!

![]() You can expect a seat of the pants improvement, about 30% more speed and torque. This will translate to about 18-20mph on 20-22" wheels. Torque increase will depend upon the controller package you choose and the current condition of your 36v motor. But it should be significant. There are 2 acceptable battery configurations for 48v. Are you going o use 6/8v or 8/6v? 8/6v provides more amperage storage for longer run times but the weight is almost like a small passenger on board all the time.... |

I was planning on using 6-8 volt batteries because of the weight. But I am open to whatever will help make it a strong and faster cart. I have been reading these posts for a while now on different opinions on performance upgrades. Do you have a preference on the controller I should be looking at for this? Do I keep the v-glide setup or change to another style? Do I try this upgrade with my existing motor? I am in the process of installing a 6" A arm lift and was planning on 12" wheels with 23" AT tires. What do you think??? |

![]() controller, batteries, 48 volt solenoid, 48 volt charger and a 48 volt charge receptical and depending on charger you might need an OBC................................

![]() There is more than one way to accomplish 48v.
For batteries you can use 6/8v or 8/6v You will need to make or buy a throttle conversion so you can replace the V-glide with a potentiometer. Then choose the controller and solenoid that's right for your build. Again make or buy a full set of 4 or 2g cables for the whole cart. I have been using a DPI 48v charger maintainer. The 5 stage stand alone charger comes with the plug to fit your cart. Make sure you talk with somebody who can match all these components together for you for the best results based upon your carts weight, gearing, & driving terrain and it's general use. |

![]() I have the 2awg welding cables already built. I was reading about a PB6 potentiometer. Will this work?? As far as a controller, I don't know which one to get?? I need to be able to climb hills and run around 20mph. I would like to keep my 36 volt motor, if possible. I am open to suggestions and recommendations!! I figured I would purchase the controller and solenoid together. I will look for the charger and see where I can get one. Thanks for the help on this!!!

![]() The PB-6 will work. I put a MCOR conversion kit in my 95. You will need to do a little fab work. You also will need a 200amp HD 48V solenoid. As for the controller, I would use a 400 amp programable such as the alltrax AXE4844. With a programable, you can set your throttle to 0-5k or 5-0k depending on what pot you get and set the torque you need for climbing. The 400 amp, 48v system with the 36v motor will get you over 20mph with good batteries. No need to change your F/R switch.

![]() Thanks for the info Colby. What kind of power/torque do you have with this system as far as climbing hills? What size tires are you running? I was looking to use 23" ATs with 12" wheels. Will this work? I will look up the MCOR kit online for info?
