You measure the voltages on the pins from the backside of the wiring harness plugs while they are inserted into the jacks on the controller. So the plug/jack numbering is the same. Tab at bottom, top row left is pin-1.

On the rare occasion when a wiring harness plug is disconnected so an Ohmmeter is used to check the operation of a switch, or point to point continuity of a wire, than the numbering is right to left when the tab is on the bottom.

-----------
EZGO and Curtis used the cheapest connectors they could find and used them in a corrosive atmosphere, so the contacts corrode and eventually the corrosion builds up enough to grow an insulating layer between the metal to metal connections.

Also, the spring fingers in the jacks aren't all that springy and are easily bent when inserting the plugs, which causes a loose connection.

**Update**

So after chasing my rear end around the cart, finally found the issue. A molex connector on the controller had a broken wire. I could get the cart working but when I took it out and hit a bump it would breakdown again.

$3.00 on amazon for a 10pin connector, extra $8.00 for the tool to make my life easier putting the pins back in and its all working.

Run into similar issues, check your connections!
