Matrix International Fork lift brake in a RXV Ezgo
I swapped out the brake on my RXV. Easy enough, but found a odd setup from the previous owner. He put in a fork lift "pancake" brake. Direct bolt in, same pattern.

Re: Matrix International Fork lift brake in a RXV Ezgo
Not as odd as it may seem. Here's the story on the legit OEM ezgo brakes, note the second "HD brake" from the same company.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...xv-brakes.html Your brake (630894) does also show up on shopezgo website as a valid part number. This brake doesn't belong on a 2012-prior "Danaher" rxv. |

Re: Matrix International Fork lift brake in a RXV Ezgo
Cgtech Thanks for clearing that up for me! I have a older RXV has Danaher in it. It also has a tall gear in it... gutless on the low end and can pass a car on the high end. I dont use that speed often. I tap the brake at speed and just slow down. That said should I go with a better brake? It has the early brake on it now.

Read "the tale of 2 brakes...", The HD brake should not be used on Danaher RXVs.

Re: Matrix International Fork lift brake in a RXV Ezgo
Also, I believe the Danaher feeds it's brake 0.5a current to feed it (the feed is not just "voltage based"). The voltage required to meet the 0.5a current feed will have wild voltage variations of "voltage seen" at the brake depending on the resistance value of the brake's coil resistance. I use the term "feed" as a way to explain that it is not just "we give it 48v & it works", more complex than that.
