Default Powerwise 2 plug replacement

My plug on my charger fried. Totally burnt up inside. It looks like it even had electrical tape on the wires inside it.
My questions are these....
The cord only has two wires, black and white. I think I ran across an old post that said the third wire wasn’t necessary. Can anyone confirm that?
Also, should I crimp AND solder the wires in the connectors?
I see that I’m supposed to solder the rings to the pins. Can anyone describe how that should look?

There is usually a small wire going to that metal clip in the middle, but if you’re is working without it it may not be necessary. It’s probably been changed.

I’d definitely replace that DC cord or cut off the bad part at least. I’ve never had to solder ring terminals to the pins. That would make it impossible to replace in the future.

Thanks Luke. Should I crimp the terminal as well as solder it? My apologies for such a basic question.

Third wire is normally what turns on the charger. That clip in the center touches the connector when plugged in. Cut back on the cord until you get good wire and put new ring terminals on the wires. Soldering optional.

Thank you kgsc. The new plug seems to be working great. No heat build up in the plug at all. [emoji106]
