Re: power drive 2 charger
It's been a long time, so an update is in order... Finally got my OBC delivered, and had a short window late yesterday afternoon to swap it out.
Run/Tow switch in Tow position, disconnected negative lead to batteries, removed batteries (4 x 12v) for easier access, etc. As the OBC is mounted in the middle of the battery bay, took pics of the connections, labelled the wires, and removed the old OBC. Installed the new OBC, replaced the batteries, reconnected batteries (46+ volts showing) run/tow switch to Run, and checked cart to make sure it still drives (it does). Connected charger to wall outlet (AC) and then to the golf cart... Nothing.at.all. Amp needle never moved, even after waiting several minutes, no audible sound or hum coming from the charger or cart. So, I feel as if this has all been a big exercise in futility, with no payoff in the end. I'm out of ideas and options - anyone else have any suggestions for me to try? Would another OBC reboot/reset make any difference? In all honesty, I'm just about done with this whole thing - I don't think it should be this difficult? As always, your feedback and info are appreciated in advance. |

Re: power drive 2 charger
Update, part 2: Sometimes, you just need to walk away, vent on an internet golf cart forum, take a deep breath, and look at it from the other side of the golf cart...
I hate losing and I never give up, so after posting that last venting, I went back out to the garage, and started over from square one; running through all the leads from the OBC, disconnecting them and reseating them solidly, I found a red lead from the obc that was UNDERNEATH one of the batteries. dOH!!! Reconnected that to the positive terminal on the battery, performed a quick OBC reset (I finally heard the click!), reconnected everything, put run/tow switch back to run and plugged in the charger. VOILA! It kicked on after about 3 seconds, and the amp meter ran up to 15amps. It's been charging for almost an hour now, and the amp meter is down to 14amps. I hate to lose, never give up, yet can be such an idiot at times... Thanks to all who offered assistance! |
