Re: troubleshooting controller/soloidnoid
Scottb, can he still do as I requested? It shouldn't matter PDS vs. DCS to verify that the controller is toast.....

Re: troubleshooting controller/soloidnoid
what is DCS? I'm trying to gain A little knowlege about my cart, and am still unsure what some of these letters mean. Does PDS represent: electric speed control?

Re: troubleshooting controller/soloidnoid
Here's some info
Differances in Electric TXT: A series cart has the Forward-Reverse lever nest to your right knee. If you have a switch on the the dash you have a DCS or PDS cart. E-Z-GO's "PREMIUM" Drive Systems DCS= Drive Control System - Mid 1994 to late 90's PDS= Precision Drive System - Late 90's to Present The Series speed control has remained unchanged since 1994. Both DCS and PDS include a feature to stop unattended run-away cars. The PDS car also has a governor feature that will hold a constant ground speed at full pedal, regardless of terrain. The DCS or PDS car will have a toggle switch under the seat marked "Run" & "Tow/Maintenance" If no switch on the black controller cover, the car has the SERIES system. Chips and what they do. Performance Option Top Speed (mph) Engine Braking All Terrain 13-13.5 NO Chip Steep Hill 13-13.5 heavy Blue Chip Mild Hill 14-14.5 mild Yellow Chip Freedom 17-19 none Red Chip |

The DCS was a predecessor to the PDS. The primary characteristic to remember is that both these carts are regenerative braking (braking done by the motor when you release the pedal) whereby a series cart has no electrical braking. Regen braking helps slow the cart on downgrades, etc. |

Re: troubleshooting controller/soloidnoid
I just went out to check voltage again I'm reading 36 volts either side of solonoid with the f/r switch in foward and ignition key on. I also placed A jumper between A1 and B- and the cart moves. So I'm assuming that I have A DCS controller that is fried? If so I'm in the market for A controller.

Re: troubleshooting controller/soloidnoid
RIB33024,Maybe my cart has been modified. The f/r switch is under the right knee, and it is not A full voltage switch. Also it has a run/tow toggle on the controller cover. How can I be sure if it is A DCS, PDS, or series cart? so I can get the right controllerfor it? Textron is on the name plate.
