98 TXT tie rod castle nut
So I put on my lift kit and now can't get the passenger castle nut secured completely to the tierod. Tried a hammer to get it seated didn't work. Tried c clamp but can't seem to get it seated that way. The bolt from the tie rod keeps spinning. Any suggestions on how to get that bolt seated? I don't wanna beat the crap out of the tie rod I'm afraid I'll bend/break it.

Re: 98 TXT tie rod castle nut
Have you tried using an impact gun. Not sure how lose the bolt is you are talking about but often an impact dose the job.

Re: 98 TXT tie rod castle nut
I have had this problem plenty of times. Use a washer to pack it a bit on the top side. Problem is the spindle will be a bit worn and the castle nut is hitting the end of the thread.

Re: 98 TXT tie rod castle nut
You may have to run a die over the threads, and a tap thru the nut. If they are buggered up it keeps the nut from threading all the way down.

Re: 98 TXT tie rod castle nut
Sorry guys, I haven't logged in a day or so. I was considering re-threading it, but I just can't get the tie rod bolt end to seat so it will quit moving. I have not attempted the impact gun, but will see if that works. Chris not sure exactly what you mean can you explain in a little more detail? thanks for the replies.

Re: 98 TXT tie rod castle nut
I would not recommend using an Impact wrench to seat the nut! If the threads are damaged, fix them with a tap / die.

Re: 98 TXT tie rod castle nut
I didn't realize it was a seating issue with the tie rod. Are you using a seat washer against the tie rod?
